At VIVAS Inc., we had the privilege of transforming the stairwell at Sherman Elementary School into a vibrant, inspiring space that sparks creativity and imagination. Our team was drawn to the challenge of turning a simple school staircase into a dynamic and engaging environment for students, using high-quality printing technology and materials.

The Project Vision

Sherman Elementary wanted to create an environment that would energize students and foster a love for learning. Our goal was to develop graphics that would bring color and life to the stairwell, making the daily commute through the school both educational and visually stimulating. We used imaginative designs to reflect diversity, inclusion, and creativity.

Printing Process: Exceptional Quality with Roland DG TrueVIS AP-640

To ensure the best possible results, we used the Roland DG TrueVIS AP-640 printer. This advanced printer allows us to produce prints with superior color accuracy, sharp details, and excellent durability. The TrueVIS AP-640 uses eco-friendly latex-based inks, which not only provide vibrant colors but are also odorless and safe for school environments, ideal for high-traffic areas like stairwells.

Latex printing offers us and our clients several advantages, including faster production times and the ability to print on a wide range of materials while maintaining exceptional color consistency and durability. It’s a perfect solution for transforming school spaces with graphics that will stand the test of time.

Materials Used: Avery Dennison Vinyl and Overlaminate

For this project, we used Avery Dennison MPI 2105 vinyl, renowned for its excellent printability, durability, and ability to hold up in high-traffic environments. The prints were finished with DOL 2080 matte overlaminate, which not only provides a sleek, non-reflective finish but also protects the graphics from wear and tear, ensuring their longevity.

This combination of high-quality vinyl and overlaminate creates a durable solution that withstands daily foot traffic, making it ideal for public spaces like schools. The result is a visually impactful installation that will continue to inspire for years to come.

Installation Process

Our installation team worked diligently over seven days to complete the project. Covering a total area of 2,900 square feet, the graphics were flawlessly applied to the stairwells, turning an ordinary school feature into a standout design element. Precise alignment and attention to detail were key to ensuring the installation was seamless, and we’re proud of the final result.

Challenges and Triumphs

Every project has its challenges, and this one was no different. From logistical coordination to surface preparation, our team had to carefully plan and execute the installation to ensure everything was perfect. Despite these challenges, the project was completed on time and exceeded all expectations.

The vibrant colors, high-quality materials, and precise installation transformed Sherman Elementary’s stairwell into a space that encourages creativity and engagement, providing students with an environment that enhances their educational experience.

The Impact

The Stairwell of Imagination is a project we’re incredibly proud of. The colorful and creative designs have had a positive impact on the school community, offering a daily dose of inspiration to both students and staff. This project reflects our commitment to transforming spaces with graphics that not only look great but also serve a purpose—creating environments that inspire.
